As the Director of Construction for Equinox Development, Michelle Theriot is responsible for overseeing all construction activities, including the bidding process, permitting, construction, tenant coordination, and project close-out. Michelle is also hands-on during due diligence, design, scope generation, and budgeting as part of the pre-construction process.
Prior to joining the Equinox team, Michelle served as the Director of Development Operations for a large multifamily developer/contractor specializing in rehab/renovation, as well as urban infill new construction and public/private partnerships. During her ten-year employment with this firm, she gained invaluable and richly diverse experience in such areas as contract negotiation and administration, managing relations with governmental authorities, field experience in both rehab and new construction, and site assessment for potential acquisition. It was during the latter half of her tenure at this firm that she obtained her general contractor’s license in the state of Florida, and licensed the new construction division as they acquired distressed properties and constructed class A multifamily and mixed-use projects. These projects have won such awards as the Hillsborough City-County Planning Commission Community Design Award, “Master Planning and Urban Design,” as well as the National Apartment Association Paragon Award of Excellence.
Michelle began her construction and development career with a small subcontracting firm in the Seminole County area in 2000. Although her project sites have spanned the state from coast to coast, she continues to call Seminole County ‘home.’ She lives in the Bear Lake of Apopka / Altamonte Springs with her husband and their four children.
Michelle received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Pennsylvania State University. She is a Certified General Contractor in the State of Florida, as well as an accredited LEED Green Associate.
